Joe Jack's Fish Shack

(12 Ratings)
Gringo comfort food

Joe Jack's is no doubt a tourist haven, but it also has some of the best hamburgers, fish & chips, and fried Chicken in Puerto Vallarta at affordable prices.

Disapointing

Went with my husband. He had the fish and chips and I had the fried chicken. Both our entries were cooked in burnt oil which flavored the fish the fries and the chicken. The Cole slaw which doesn’t come with the entrees was only seasoned with vinegar and sugar. The mashed potatoes had a tasteless brown gravy on them. The service and corn were good. Having eaten at least a dozen fish and chip places in our former hometown of Portland, Oregon, all I can say is the least favorite of those was better than this.

Nice upstairs patio and Cute Jay the Server! ;)

Very good food. Had the fava bean/asparagus bruschetta..so tasty! The onion tower, My partner had the fish & Shrimp and chips combo, and I had the garlic shrimp in mojo de ajo sauce, it was very good! Also very good mojitos here.

Red Snapper, Red Snapper, Red Snapper

Maybe it's the time of year we visit PV but we ALWAYS visit THE SHACK for... the Red Snappper. Each year, one of our best meals there.

Not to be missed

After being in PV for 5 days and being generally underwhelmed with the food, we were recommended by a local to this restaurant. At first, I thought it was going to be another overpriced, overhyped tourist restaurant. I was wrong. This, by far, was the best food we had. Fresh off the boat seafood is lovingly prepared in a tiny, open kitchen by the owner and chef, an American. He actually trained in Thailand, so he has added some interesting spice to some menu items (try the spicy thai green bean seafood salad). Also not to be missed is the tuna poke. Frankly, all dishes our party of 8 had were wonderful and very reasonably priced.
