Located in Zona Romantica on the main gay strip, this lesbian-owned cocktail bar, and bistro is popular with guys, gals, and anyone in between. There is also plenty of outside patio seating perfect for catching the ocean breeze and people watching.

Vallarta's own "Cheers."
The food is good, but the reason to head to Apaches is to hang out with "the gang." Regulars pack the prime seats on the street early and fast, but there's almost always a way to wiggle in somewhere. It's expected that you will sit down at the same table with strangers and introduce yourself. If you are inside the bar, beware of no air conditioning. But it's worth the sweat to sit inside with the bar's co-owner and bartender, Dutch born Endra. She's like a Dutch Ethel Merman, calling everyone "Dahhhling" in a booming, belting voice and introducing patrons to each other. Great place for meeting a lot of ex-pat locals and snow birds who are in the know about how gay Vallarta rolls.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND MARGARITAS
I have been coming here for the past year and their Hawaiian Chicken, Mediteranean Meatballs and Chicken Satay are delicious. The Margaritas are strong but with 2 for 1 Happy Hour drinks between 5 and 8 pm how can you go wrong. The Servers Andres, Chuy and Freddy are very friendly and service oriented.
Best food in Vallarta
This is absolutely the best place to eat and drink in Puerto Vallarta. We always stop by on our yearly trip and visit with the owners and the wait staff. If you are looking for great food and friendly staff this is a nice place to hang out.
I've been going there since Marianne first opened. A great place for good conversation and friendly people gay and straight.
Are you a TOQ? Here's the place for you!
Every day at 5:00 sharp, Apaches hosts every tired old queen in town. You can even bring your dog. He'll get a seat; you may not. Apaches is another tired PV institution that doesn't have the sense to die. Drinks are overpriced and hideous (the Friend of Dorothy was simply undrinkable), seating is guarded for the TOQs and their court, unless you arrive a bit early and stake your claim (4:45 at the latest if you want outside). If you get stuck inside, you'll have to shriek at your friends to be heard over the 2nd tier TOQs who didn't rate an outside table. That's really all this place has to offer. I won't be back.
